At this point, the title of this list may seem a bit stupid, “how would you quit your job?” — You will think, if we know perfectly well that in this world we are educated from childhood to sit all day producing to fulfill someone else’s dreams. However, you have to accept that we are all secretly fed up with it, and if like me you have always dreamed of dedicating yourself to something that you are passionate about, that requires more love for living than for surviving, you know that what you want the most is for the day to come in when you can allow yourself to quit that 9–5 office job to do what you love 24/7. BUT leaving your 9–5 job and surviving at the beginning of this arduous path is not exactly an option. So I wanted to share my advice so that surviving and starting to live are not two mutually exclusive concepts.

1. Be willing to

But seriously, because I spent years “wanting” without doing anything, so maybe I didn’t want it that much or had more reasons not to do it than to actually act on it. The point is to be honest with yourself and dare to make a decision even if it means giving up other things.

2. Stop being so scared (or do it anyway)

Okay, it may be that you are willing to but if you have any excuses, basically you have dozens of fears and insecurities that are actually stopping you, I get you because I had them too, but after giving it a lot of thought I realized that my biggest fear of all was to let another 26 years pass, looking back and had not even tried.

3. Get a plan

Plan, plan and plan. Your schedules, your expenses, your projects. Plan everything because when you try to do something without first charting a course to follow, you are going to fail and when you fail you are going to get frustrated and probably feel like a big failure yourself. Has it happened to you? It happened to me A LOT and the only creator of these failures was myself sabotaging myself, preparing everything to fail.

4. Fail anyway

And do not worry, even with a plan you will fail but you will know that you tried hard and each attempt will be better for you, on each step you take you will learn something new and believe me, when you are at that point nothing is going to stop you because even if it sounds trite, what was previously an obstacle you will now see as a challenge, a riddle to solve. So fail.

5. Ask for help

Finally, the most difficult step for me to take but the one that gave me the most results… Ask for help! I don’t know why sometimes we tend to think we have to do it all alone but that’s just not true, the reality is that two heads are better than one and you don’t know what two pairs of hands are capable of. In the end I realized that my list of friends was not just people to like on Instagram or with whom go have a drink, but we can all see each other as a great team and achieve many things. I met with several friends, in the musical guild, filmmakers, photographers and talking at some point we decided to collaborate and that is how I have achieved what I have achieved so far and I know that every time we will grow much more if we shake hands . Another tool that I used and I recommend you use was a Crowdfunding platform, I made a profile and shared it with the idea that those who were interested in my project could support it. I’ll leave it here for you to get the idea.

Bottom line is: don’t limit yourself and do whatever it is that you have to do but don’t stop moving.
